Grab your rain boots, watering can, and sun hats. Spring is coming! Every year at Virtue Farm, we look forward to the first sighting of the rabbits, planting flowers in our raised garden, and sipping cider in the sunshine once again.
Spring is a time for renewal and for the animals of the orchard to emerge from their winter slumber. This season’s Cider Society box is just that; a moment for our beloved animals. Each cider gets its name from an animal important to cidermaking at Virtue Farm.
Lapinette is named for the first bunny of the season that lets the farmers know the frost is over and planting can begin. It’s a dry cidre brut that is aged in French oak barrels.
Old Spot is named after our Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs that live on our farm. Their spots are said to be caused by falling apples from the trees as they dine on them and help till the soil. Old Spot is an English pub-style cider.
Percheron is rich in history. Percheron is named after the great cider horses of Normandy who pulled the auges to press apples for cidermaking. Percheron is aged in red wine barrels and is a funky cider.
Pippin le Chat, our newest cider release, is named after our beloved farm cat, Pippin. She makes sure the ciderhouses are protected and brings joy to all who visit our farm. Pippin le Chat is a cider made from heirloom apples that is natively fermented in neutral barrels.
Each bottle in this box carries a story that impacts Virtue Cider and we are happy to bring a little piece of our farm to your home this spring.
