Virtue Cider and Kendall College are hosting a Cider Dinner on Thursday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy Virtue Cider beverage pairings with a special six-course menu created by Chef Brendan McDermott and Chef Erika Masuda of Kendall College. Now in its seventh year, the Chef Battle will feature five Chicago chefs using Virtue Cider in ten dishes. You try each one and vote to crown the chef most successful the winner of WBEZ prizes and the title of Chef Supreme! Chefs confirmed so far include: Jared Van Camp of Old Town Social and Nellcote, Louis Dourlain from Kendall College, and Beverly Kim and Johnny Clark of Parachute. Starting off with a live recording of the Chewing the Fat podcast with Louisa Chu and Monica Eng, the Chicago Chef Battle has become a staple event for WBEZ foodies and for those just interested in sampling some fantastic food. With past winners that include Jill Barron of Mana Food Bar, Dana Cree of Blackbird, and Leonard Hollander of Marion Street Cheese Market, the Chicago Chef Battle guarantees excellent food, excellent drink and great company without requiring you to take out a second mortgage to attend.

Join Virtue Cider and 40 BBQ TEAMS competing for the title of Grand Champion during a two-day competition. Teams can only use all-wood (no gas or electricity) to cook their meats. Enjoy the competition, sample BBQ, and grab a few glasses of cider along the way. Proceeds benefit Operation BBQ Relief, providing food and support to American victims of natural disasters. Contestants can bring any combination of smokers, any combination of spices, garnishes, tools and experience to result in the best BBQ they have. Teams competing in the WCBC turn in meat from four categories: Pork, Ribs, Chicken and Brisket. There will be 40 judges from far and wide coming to critique the meat. This year guarantees a bigger payout in award money and bragging rights too!
